Box Score Moosic, PA – The Syracuse Mets outlasted the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in a marathon, 7-4, victory in 13 innings on Tuesday night at PNC Field. With a total game time of 4 hours and 11 minutes, Syracuse played in its longest game since becoming the Mets affiliate in 2019.

Moosic, PA – The Syracuse Mets outlasted the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in a marathon, 7-4, victory in 13 innings on Tuesday night at PNC Field.

With a total game time of 4 hours and 11 minutes, Syracuse played in its longest game since becoming the Mets affiliate in 2019. Syracuse reached the 13th inning for the first time since 7/30/18 vs. PAW.

Syracuse (21-16) struck first in the top of the second inning. Nick Morabito walked with the bases loaded, scoring Christian Pache to make it 1-0.

The Mets added on in the sixth when Hayden Senger launched a solo home run to left field, extending the advantage to 2-0.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (19-18) answered in the bottom of the sixth. After a pair of walks and a wild pitch put runners in scoring position, Marco Luciano lifted a sacrifice fly to trim the deficit to 2-1.

The RailRiders grabbed the lead in the seventh when Jonathan Ornelas crushed a two-run homer to left field to put Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in front, 3-2.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre added another run in the eighth on a solo home run by Seth Brown, stretching the lead to 4-2.

Syracuse rallied in the ninth. Jihwan Bae reached on an error and Ryan Clifford followed with an RBI double to cut the deficit to one. Later in the inning, Yonny Hernández lined a game-tying RBI single to score Clifford and even the game, 4-4.

Both teams traded scoreless extra innings as the Syracuse bullpen continued to escape trouble. In the 11th, Bae threw out Oswaldo Cabrera at home plate from left field, and Payton Henry grounded into an inning-ending double play.

The Mets finally broke through in the 13th. Matt Rudick started the inning at second and scored when Morabito reached on a sacrifice bunt and throwing error by first baseman Ali Sánchez, putting Syracuse ahead, 5-4. After Morabito stole second and Bae singled, Arroyo ripped a two-run single to left field, extending the lead to 7-4.

On the mound, Jack Wenninger started for Syracuse and tossed five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. Luke Jackson, Nate Lavender, Daniel Duarte, Alex Carrillo, Anderson Severino, and Mike Baumann combined to cover the final eight innings. Baumann worked a clean bottom of the 13th to secure the save.

Arroyo paced the Mets with three hits and two RBIs, while Bae collected two hits, scored twice, and made the game-saving throw in extra innings. Cluff reached base four times in the win.

Syracuse continues its series with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday. RHP Jack Weisenburger is slated to start for the Mets against RHP Brendan Beck. First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m.
