The teams exchanged leadoff home runs in the first inning, with B.J. Murray launching a solo home run for the I-Cubs to tie the game. Iowa took the lead in the second on an RBI double from Hayden Cantrelle.

The score held until the seventh inning when Omaha hit their second solo home run of the night to tie the game. The game remained tied through nine innings and went to extra innings.

Omaha scored one run in the tenth inning to take the lead. After scoring the tying run in the bottom half of the inning on a balk, Ben Cowles hit a walk off single to win the game for Iowa.
