Davenport, IA: The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers won three out of five games against the Quad Cities River Bandits at Modern Woodman Park, winning their eighth series of the season. The Rattlers come home with an overall record of 36-28, including 2-0 to start the second half of the season.

Wisconsin struck double-digits three times in the series, including the series opener with an 11-6 victory on Tuesday. The Rattlers fell 3-2 on Wednesday and closed their first half of the season with Thursday’s 9-3 loss. The Rattlers finished the series - and started the second half - strong and started the second half hot by winning Friday’s game 12-2 and Saturday 14-1. The 2-0 record shares the top of the Midwest League West second-half standings with the Beloit Sky Carp.

Sunday’s scheduled game was not played due to weather, making it the third consecutive road-series Sunday-finale to be rained out.

The Rattlers now have a season road-game record of 22-12, which ranks top of the Midwest League.

Wisconsin’s offense compiled a .292 average as a team during the series with plenty of timely swings. The bats struck gold in the fourth inning on Tuesday, drawing the River Bandits with a five run frame. They scored ten unanswered runs on Friday, and put up Saturday’s 14 runs in a six inning span.

Braylon Payne helped levitate the team batting average, going 8-for-15 with seven RBI while striking out just once in the entire trip. His RBI single in the first inning on Tuesday set the tone for a strong week. Payne had three extra base hits in the series, and homered late in the game on Tuesday.

Eric Bitonti had a great final two games of the series as he collected his second five-hit game of the season. Bitonti went 5-for-5 with a homer, four RBI, and four runs scored as he became only the second Rattler since 2005 to have two five-hit games in a season. Bitonti followed that performance with two more hits and two more RBI on Saturday night.

Other contributors to Wisconsin’s offensive outburst during the week included:

  • Josiah Ragsdale started Wednesday’s game with a leadoff home run. Ragsdale hit another homer on Saturday night and hit .381, scored ten runs and had five RBI in the series.
  • Daniel Dickinson batted .357 and hit the first home run of his professional career.
  • Luiyin Alastre batted .308 through four games played.
  • Luis Castillo, who had four of his six hits go for doubles en route to driving in five runs.
  • Marco Dinges returned to the lineup on Saturday and went 3-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and two runs.

The pitching staff continued their recent solid stretch, posting a team ERA of 3.35 during the series. Wisconsin hurlers had 49 strikeouts and walked just 27 during the series
.

Last week’s starters included Brandon Woodruff, who was assigned to make a rehab start with the Rattlers in the series opener. Woodruff was the winning pitcher on Tuesday, and pitched 5⅓ innings with six strikeouts, one walk and three earned runs. Woodruff threw 82 pitches in his seventh career appearance with Wisconsin.

Wande Torres was solid in relief on Friday, pitching 5⅔ scoreless innings while striking out eight and walking none. The winning decision puts Torres at a 4-5 record.

The other winner on the mound was Jayden Dubanewicz, who allowed one earned run through his five-inning start on Saturday. Command was key again, as Dubanewicz struck out six and walked none in his second start as a Timber Rattler.

Josh Knoth went 4⅓ innings with six strikeouts in his start on Wednesday.

The length from the starters allowed everyone to take a turn in the bullpen, with no pitcher having to pitch twice in the series.

Quinton Low was one of those fresh arms, pitching two no-hit innings and striking out four. Chandler Welch had a long appearance out of the pen, pitching 3.2 innings and allowed one earned run. Braylon Owens gave the Rattlers three innings, allowing one earned run and striking out three to earn the save in Woodruff’s start on June 16.

Daniel Corniel made his first appearance with the Rattlers this season, and pitched three scoreless innings on Thursday. Also returning from injury was Michael Fowler, who had a scoreless appearance and had not pitched for Wisconsin since May 3rd. Fowler pitched two hitless innings on Saturday while striking out a pair.

The Rattlers will be back at Neuroscience Group Field on Tuesday to host the Cedar Rapids Kernels for the first time this season. The Rattlers are 3-2 against the Kernels in 2026, having played in Cedar Rapids earlier this month.
