Collin Price extended his RBI streak on Wednesday afternoon, however, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (71-68, 39-26) were defeated by the Oklahoma City Comets (82-57, 41-24) 8-6 at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Space Cowboys wasted no time opening the scoring. Pascanel Ferreras and Cavan Biggio worked back-to-back walks to put two runners on base before Price smashed a three-run home run deep to left field, giving Sugar Land an early 3-0 lead.

The Comets answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the first inning to even the game at three a piece. However, the Space Cowboys regained the lead in the top of the second inning when Lucas Spence crushed a solo home run to center field, putting Sugar Land back on top, 4-3.

Oklahoma City scored three runs in the bottom half of the second inning to take a two-run lead, but the Space Cowboys plated a run of their own in the top of the third. Biggio and Jake Meyers each worked a walk before advancing into scoring position on a wild pitch from RHP Edwin Díaz. Zach Dezenzo then grounded out to drive in Biggio, cutting the Sugar Land deficit to 6-5.

RHP Alex Santos II entered in relief with two outs in the fourth inning and induced a flyout to end the frame. Santos returned for the fifth inning and tossed a perfect frame with two strikeouts to complete his scoreless outing. However, the Comets pushed across two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning before RHP Christian Roa entered for the Space Cowboys in the seventh. Roa surrendered a leadoff double but retired three straight batters, striking out the final two he faced to end the inning and keep Sugar Land within three.

The Space Cowboys scratched across a run in the top of the eighth inning. Biggio and Price led off with back-to-back singles before advancing into scoring position on a wild pitch. Dezenzo then worked a walk to load the bases for Raynel Delgado, who grounded into a force out to bring home Biggio and draw Sugar Land within two at 8-6.

RHP Roddery Muñoz tossed a scoreless eighth inning for the Space Cowboys, retiring the first two batters he faced before surrendering a single. Muñoz bounced back by inducing a lineout to left field to end the inning.

With the Space Cowboys trailing by two entering the top of the ninth inning, LHP Jackson Ferris (S,1) induced three straight groundouts to keep Sugar Land off the board, securing the win for Oklahoma City and giving the Comets a two-game advantage in the Pacific Coast League standings.

NOTABLE:

Collin Price went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI on Wednesday afternoon. Price has now recorded an RBI in five consecutive games and homered in four of his last five games. Over his last five games, Price is 7-for-17 (.412) with four home runs, nine RBI, three walks and four runs scored.
Lucas Spence went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk on Wednesday. Spence has now homered in four of his last 10 games. Over that span, he is batting .258 (8-for-31) with a double, four home runs, seven RBI, seven walks and eight runs scored.
RHP Alex Santos tossed 1.1 scoreless innings on Wednesday, allowing no hits while striking out two. Since being promoted to Sugar Land on August 22, Santos has held opponents scoreless in five of his seven appearances, pitching 9.0 innings while allowing just two hits, three runs, one earned, and four walks with 14 strikeouts.
Pascanel Ferreras worked a walk and came around to score on Wednesday. Ferreras has now scored a run in six consecutive games, tied for the longest active run-scoring streak in the Pacific Coast League.
RHP Christian Roa tossed a scoreless inning while striking out two on Wednesday afternoon. Since re-signing with the Astros on a minor league deal, Roa has not allowed a run in 16 out of his 20 appearances.

The Space Cowboys continue their six-game set with the Comets on Thursday evening. RHP Brandon McPherson will get the ball for Sugar Land while Oklahoma City will throw RHP Landon Knack.
