Saints Offense Befuddled In 6-1 Loss To Storm Chasers

PAPILLION, NE (September 5, 2026) - The St. Paul Saints offense has picked a terrible time to go into a slump. They managed just an unearned run on Saturday night at Werner Park, totaling four runs over their last three games, as they dropped their third straight to the Omaha Storm Chasers, 6-1.
The lone run came in the first when the Saints capitalized on an error.. With one out Alan Roden banged a single to right. Aaron Sabato’s fly ball to left was dropped by Brett Squires and the error put runners at first and second. With two outs Hendry Mendez extended his hitting streak to seven with an RBI single to center putting the Saints up 1-0.
The Storm Chasers took the lead in the third when Jacob Berry led off with a double to right-center. With one out Alejo Lopez knocked him home with a single to right-center tying the game at one. With two outs, Peyton Wilson walked and Brett Squires made it 2-1 with an RBI single into right.
The lead was extended by the Storm Chasers in the fourth. Drew Waters led off with a single to right-center. With one out Berry singled to center putting runners at first and second. Jorge Alfaro reached on a two base throwing error by shortstop Tristan Gray that allowed Waters to score upping the lead to 3-1. The big blow came from Alejo Lopez who hit a three-run homer to left, his fourth of the season, second with the Storm Chasers, increasing the lead to 6-1.
The Saints offense managed just two walks from the second through the fifth and and went 15 consecutive hitters without a base hit until a two-out single by Mendez in the sixth.
In the seventh, the Saints tried to make a little noise when Gray and Tanner Schobel led off the inning with back-to-back singles, but they were left stranded when the next three hitters were retired.
Paulshawn Pasqualotto was tremendous out of the bullpen tying a career-high with 3.0 innings as he didn’t allow a run on two hits and struck out five, one shy of his career high.
The same two teams meet in the finale of the six-game series on Sunday afternoon at Werner Park at 2:05 p.m. The Saints send RHP Ryan Gallagher (6-7, 6.57) to the mound against Storm Chasers RHP Lucas Braun (8-3, 3.97). The game can be heard on KFAN Plus, 96.7 FM presented by Northland Ford Dealers.
