Saturday Smash: SWB Beats Red Sox 9-1

The RailRiders hit first to go up 2-0 in the second inning. Marco Luciano reached on an error and J.C. Escarra launched a 401-foot home right to right center field.
In the fifth, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre struck again. Kenedy Corona doubled to reach and Jarred Kelenic marked his first single with the RailRiders. Jasson DomÃnguez smacked a run-scoring single and Luciano followed up with a three-run blast to left for a 6-1 advantage.
Kelenic recorded his second knock of the day to start off the seventh and stole second to get into scoring position. With the infield in, DomÃnguez laced a ball through the hole on the right side to drive in Kelenic.
Max Schuemann and Corona registered hits in the next inning to get aboard. Kelenic followed with an RBI single to make it 8-1.
In the ninth, Worcester sent in a position player to pitch. SWB loaded the bases and an Oswaldo Cabrera batted in a run for a 9-1 score. It also certified that every batter in the RailRiders starting nine reached successfully.
Hayden Merda made his second spot start of the week, letting up just one run. Eric Reyzelman (W, 2-3), Chris Kean, Danny Watson, Eli Morgan, and Zach Messinger combined for eight scoreless frames out of the bullpen. Worcester's Michael Sanson (L, 2-5) allowed six runs, five earned, in his five innings of work.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre wraps up their series against Worcester with a 1:05 PM first pitch on Sunday night. It will be the Tuesday opener matchup between Yankees #13 prospect Kyle Carr and Boston's #21 prospect Jedixson Paez.
