Rodriguez plays a crucial role in Round Rock's Copa de la Diversión initiative, a season-long event series specifically designed to embrace the culture and values that resonate most with minor league teams’ Hispanic/Latino communities. Thanks to Rodriguez’s leadership, the Express transforms into the Chupacabras de Round Rock each season. His efforts connect numerous Latino organizations to the club and, in 2025, Round Rock was named MiLB's Copa de la Diversión winner.
Although he was born in the Bronx, New York, his family is originally from San Pedro, Dominican Republic. Rodriguez split time growing up in Brooklyn, New York; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Miami, Florida. After high school in Miami, he went back to the Dominican Republic to focus on baseball and spend time with the Washington Nationals organization. Following his time with the Nationals, he played second base at Western Nebraska Community College for two years before transferring to Huston-Tillotson University to play baseball. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2013 with a degree in Marketing.
Since 2018, Rodriguez has been the interpreter for Baseball America’s, “Prospect Pad,” a segment dedicated to highlight the top MLB prospects at All-Star Week’s Futures Game. Oscar also served on the Round Rock Chamber Board of Directors in 2019 and continues to play an active role with the chamber by attending meetings, voting and spending time in the community as an ambassador.
When not at Dell Diamond, Rodriguez enjoys watching, coaching and playing baseball. He is a massive New York Mets fan and enjoys working out, dancing, going to church and reading books on philosophy, sport biographies and finance. Oscar’s mother, Betania, and sister, Star, also live in Texas while his sister, Karina, still lives in the Dominican Republic. Oscar is the proud owner of a boxer/pit mix named Alfa.
