For the fourth consecutive year, The Hangout League-Florida will hold its championship game at Blue Wahoos Stadium, featuring collegiate players from a mix of junior colleges, NAIA and NCAA division teams.
Saturday’s game at 6 p.m. pairs the Gulf Shores Sea Horses against West Florida Baseball Academy Blue in a nine-inning title game. The winning team receives the Hangout League surfboard trophy that players will sign.
The Hangout League began in 2018 as a two-month summer league and has now expanded into cities in four states – Pensacola (Florida), Dallas (Texas), Shreveport (Louisiana) and San Diego (California).
League founder Dustin Brown was a former collegiate and summer league player, who founded the Hangout League in Shreveport, then expanded into Pensacola, then Dallas (2024) and this year’s debut in San Diego.
The league’s mission is to provide an affordable way for area college players, along with some from long distance locations, to play in a two-month summer league. The Hangout League-Florida plays its games at Pensacola State College and UWF beginning in the last week of May.
Following Saturday’s championship game at Blue Wahoos Stadium the final round of the league’s home run derby will be staged featuring two finalists.
