Storm Chasers Roll to 7-1 Win Over Saints

PAPILLION, NEB. – The Omaha Storm Chasers (27-31/60-72) rolled to a 7-1 win over the St. Paul Saints (34-26/76-58) on Thursday night. Henry Williams (5-4) worked 6.0 scoreless innings in his team-leading 5th quality start of the year while a trio of Storm Chasers homered in the 6-run victory.

Williams opened the game with a scoreless top of the 1st inning, then Brett Squires put Omaha on the board with a solo home run in the bottom of the 1st inning to give the Storm Chasers a 1-0 lead.

Williams followed with back-to-back scoreless frames in the 2nd and 3rd innings, and both Luca Tresh and Omar Hernandez scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the 3rd inning, extending Omaha’s lead to 3-0.

Williams worked another clean frame in the top of the 4th inning, and Carson Roccaforte made it a 4-0 game with a leadoff home run in the bottom half.

The Saints went down in order in the top of the 5th inning, which the Storm Chasers followed with a 2-run frame in the bottom of the 5th when a throwing error allowed another run to cross and Squires hit a sacrifice fly to bring Omaha’s advantage to 6-0.

Williams returned for the top of the 6th inning and finished the game going 6.0 scoreless innings, tying his season-high with 7 strikeouts while walking just 1 batter.

Luke Little took over for Williams to start the top of the 7th inning but surrendered a leadoff home run to cut Omaha’s edge to 6-1.

Gavin Cross followed with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the 7th inning, his 17th home run of the year, to make it a 7-1 game.

The Storm Chasers turned to Lucas Erceg in the top of the 8th inning, and he kept St. Paul from scoring in the frame before Ben Sears did the same to close the door in the top of the 9th inning.

St. Paul will take on Omaha again for the fourth game of the series on Friday. Hunter Patteson is scheduled to start for the Storm Chasers and first pitch is set for 6:35 P.M. CT.
