Statement regarding start of 2020 season for Short-Season Leagues

PETERSBURG, Florida -- Minor League Baseball™ (MiLB™) issued the following statement today: “Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the scheduled start of Minor League Baseball’s Appalachian League™, Arizona League™, Gulf Coast League™, New York-Penn League™, Northwest League™ and Pioneer League™ seasons will be delayed until further notice. These leagues

“Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the scheduled start of Minor League Baseball’s Appalachian League™, Arizona League™, Gulf Coast League™, New York-Penn League™, Northwest League™ and Pioneer League™ seasons will be delayed until further notice. These leagues and teams will continue to monitor the situation and work with their Major League Baseball® affiliates while following the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and recommendations by state and federal authorities. The Short-Season leagues will start the 2020 season as soon as it is safe to do so. The health and safety of our fans, players and staff members is our top priority.

Additionally, the New York-Penn League All-Star Game and the Northwest League vs. Pioneer League All-Star Game have been canceled.”
