Right-hander Davis Polo stole the show in his Double-A debut as the Columbus Clingstones (34-30, 63-65) took down the Montgomery Biscuits (33-31, 68-65) on Tuesday night at DABOS Park.

Decisive Plays: Both Polo and Biscuits starting pitcher Jackson Baumeister seized control to begin the night. Baumeister worked through a bases-loaded jam in the third inning, while Polo began the game by retiring the first 12 batters he faced. Columbus took the first lead in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI single from Carson Taylor and extended the lead in the seventh inning on an RBI single from Alex Lodise. Montgomery scored its first run on a sacrifice fly from Connor Hujsak in the seventh inning but remained quiet for the rest of the game.

Key Contributors: Polo (6.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 SO) was brilliant in his first outing in Double-A while Taylor (2-for-4, RBI) and Lodise (1-for-3, RBI) carried the offense. For Montgomery, Hujsak (0-for-1, SF, RBI) drove in the only run while Baumeister (5.2 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 SO) was sharp in a career-high 96 pitches.

Notable: Over his last two starts between High-A Rome and Columbus, Polo has worked 12.0 innings with 20 strikeouts. Polo posted the Clingstones' 25th quality start since June 1, the most in the Southern League over that span. Columbus finishes the season with a 9-15 record in series openers.
