Made Makes History, Letson Locks Down Blue Wahoos in Shuckers Victory

PENSACOLA, FL – The Biloxi Shuckers (64-66, 29-36) shined both at the plate and on the mound in a 9-2 win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (77-56, 41-23) on Wednesday evening at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
Jesús Made recorded his 90th RBI of the season, which set a new single-season franchise record, surpassing Jackson Chourio (’23) who collected 89. Made becomes the first Brewers Double-A player with 90+ RBI in a season since Hunter Morris (113) in 2012 and is the 5th Brewers Double-A player to achieve the feat this century. Bishop Letson (6.1ip, 1r, 9k) also turned in one of his best starts of the season, tying a career-high with nine strikeouts in back-to-back outings.
The two teams split a pair of runs in the first after an Eric Bitonti sacrifice fly and a Connor Caskenette RBI single. Three scoreless innings later, Braylon Payne broke the deadlock with his third bomb of the season in the fifth, off the bat at 105 mph, flying 392 feet. Mike Boeve blasted a three-run homer of his own a frame later in the sixth, going 355 feet at 97 mph. Ethan O’Donnell dug into the Blue Wahoos deficit in the eighth with a run-scoring base knock before the Shuckers struck for four runs in the home half on the record-setting RBI by Made, a Josh Adamczewski RBI-double, in addition to base hits to bring in runs from from Bitonti and Jheremy Vargas as a pinch hitter.
Mike Boeve (1-for-2, 3 rbi) and Eric Bitonti (1-for-3, 2 rbi) drove in a bulk of the runs for the Shuckers securing multi-RBI games, while Jesús Made (2-for-5) tallied his Southern League-leading 36th game with multiple hits.
Bishop Letson (7-6) secured his seventh win of the season, while Jackson Storm was tagged with the loss. Ryan Birchard (1.0ip, 2k) recorded a scoreless inning as well out of the bullpen for Biloxi.
The Shuckers snapped a skid of seven straight losses against the Blue Wahoos and can make it back-to-back wins at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Thursday night. Jaron DeBerry (8-8, 4.50) gets the nod on the bump for Biloxi with Luis Moreno (6-7, 7.36) on the mound for Pensacola.
