Gabriel Rincones Jr. Goes Yard as ‘Pigs Fall to WooSox

Allentown, Pennsylvania (September 9, 2026) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (30-34, 65-74) tried to rally late, but could not surmount an early deficit in an 8-3 loss to the Worcester Red Sox (35-28, 71-63) on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park.

Worcester once again grabbed the lead early, plating four in the second. Tyler McDonough singled home the first run of the game and Nathan Hickey followed with a two-run triple. A throwing error on stolen base attempt then allowed Hickey to score the fourth run of the frame.

A two-run single for Nate Baez added to the WooSox lead in the third before Allan Castro made it 7-0 with another RBI single in the fourth.

The ‘Pigs made some late inroads, scoring three two-out runs in the eighth. Keaton Anthony helped the ‘Pigs skirt the shutout with an RBI single and Gabriel Rincones Jr. then bombed a two-run homer to make it 7-3.

Vinny Capra led off the ninth with a solo homer for Worcester to put them back up by five, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Noah Song (W, 4-2) spun 2.2 no-hit innings of relief to earn the win for the WooSox, while Biran Keller (1-7) allowed seven runs (six earned) over four frames to take the loss for the ‘Pigs.

The ‘Pigs and WooSox continue their series on Thursday, September 10th at Coca-Cola Park with first pitch slated for 6:45 p.m. The ‘Pigs hand the ball to Alan Rangel while Worcester counters with Blake Wehunt.
