CORPUS CHRISTI - Home runs by Josiah Ragsdale and Jesús Báez sprung Springfield to a 3-2 win over the Hooks in Tuesday night's series opener at Whataburger Field.

Corpus Christi's markers came in the second. Following a lead-off single by Alejandro Nuñez, Hector Salas blasted his first Double-A home runs, lifting a 2-1 pitch over the fence in left to put the Hooks ahead, 2-1.

The Cards countered in the fifth on Báez's two-run poke against Jose Guedez.

Hooks lefty Trey Dombroski made the start, scattering two runs, eight hits, and two walks while stranding six over four innings.

Ramsey David struck out two in a scoreless seventh and Railin Perez blanked Springfield over the final two frames.

Guedez dispatched six of eight batters faced, teaming with David and Perez for five innings of one-run relief.

Chase Call, who threw out a runner at third from right field on Sunday in Amarillo, cut down Ryan Campos trying to score to end the Springfield fourth. Call's laser from right rendered his fourth outfield assist in 34 Double-A games and his 9th outfield assist in 87 contests between CC and Class A+ Asheville.
