Nick Dombkowski Named Eastern League Pitcher of the Week

CURVE, PA – Minor League Baseball announced that Curve pitcher Nick Dombkowski has been named the Eastern League Pitcher of the week.

Dombkowski turned in a career-best performance on Wednesday against Erie. The 28-year-old left-hander allowed just one baserunner over six innings with six strikeouts to lead a 6-1 win over the SeaWolves. He became the first Curve pitcher to start a game with six no-hit innings since Roansy Contreras on May 11, 2021.

Dombkowski was signed as an undrafted free agent in July of 2021 by the Pirates and has suited up for Altoona for 82 career appearances in which he holds a 3.49 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP. In four August starts with the Curve, Dombkowski has gone 2-2 with a 3.50 ERA allowing just 10 hits and three walks in 18.0 innings with 19 strikeouts.

The Curve travel to Harrisburg this week for their final road trip of the season, Dombkowski is slated to start Tuesday’s game against the Senators. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
